Arlan is a real-life example of a woman who used hard work, self-education and the power of belief to manifest her dream of becoming a venture capitalist. Her story is remarkable because at the time, she came from the production world and had no financial or startup background.
At one point in her journey she was homeless and on welfare, sleeping in airports and motivating herself with simple, daily mantra of “ I am a venture capitalist” and after four years she was after receiving her first round of funding. Since 2015, Backstage has raised more than 7 million dollars and invested in more than 130 startup companies led by underestimated founders.
